One of the greatest places in Orlando to indulge in small plates. This restaurant is not only good at creating a fun atmosphere, but delicious food as well. Each dish here is unique and has its own flare, providing a variety of taste. The drinks here are also great, and they do not skimp on the alcohol. They also have entertainers that move about the restaurant space, making the experience quite fun. Overall, if you’re looking for tapas/small plates in Orlando, I highly recommend Café Tu Tu Tango.
We chose this restaurant based on its star rating, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was absolutely delicious! We started with some appetizers, including veggie butternut squash, udon noodles, and Impossible bread. We also ordered butter chicken, spring rolls, chicken wings, and more, all of which were incredibly tasty. The ambiance was unique, featuring a mix of entertainment with a belly dancer and music from the ’80s and ’90s. Overall, I would give this place a five-star rating for great service and offering a distinctive dining experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. We were so hungry that we forgot to take pictures of some of the amazing dishes we enjoyed!
I Give Cafe Tu Tu Tango 3 out of 5 stars
My recent visit to Cafe Tu Tu Tango was a mixed experience, starting with our arrival in the parking lot. The valet attendant was on his phone and took a little while to acknowledge us. Once he did, he was friendly and directed us to park anywhere beyond the cones if we preferred not to use valet service.
We had made a reservation for five and were welcomed with a smile. The host asked if we wanted to enjoy happy hour or regular dining. The restaurant is quite spacious, with plenty of seating options, and it didn’t seem overly busy. However, we were initially seated at a small two-top booth in a corner next to a large family table. Given the many open tables, I requested a different seating arrangement. The host was accommodating and quickly moved us to a half booth, which was much nicer.
Our water was served promptly, and our waitress, Cassie, greeted us warmly. She inquired if we were celebrating anything special, and I mentioned it was a birthday. Cassie was very informative, offering great recommendations from the menu and taking our order efficiently. I appreciated the restaurant’s theme of promoting local art, and it was a nice touch to see an artist showcasing their work live, available for purchase.
The food arrived quickly, and I was impressed by the flavors. The street corn was delicious, and the tzatziki dip was excellent. The butternut squash dish was great, though I would have preferred it warm; the warm pita served alongside made up for that. The cauliflower tacos were tasty, and my son enjoyed the beef skewers. For dessert, we opted for the guava bread pudding, which was delightful, and the chocolate cherry bonbons were sweet but hey it’s chocolate you’ve gotta expect that. Cassie lit a candle for the birthday dessert and wished a happy birthday, though I expected a bit more fanfare—no singing or special celebration as I’ve experienced in other places.
The music in our section was low and just okay, and while the ambiance was pleasant with the art theme, the lighting was quite dim where we were seated. Overall, the staff, especially Cassie, were excellent, and I appreciated the focus on local artists. The food was good, and the pricing felt fair. However, the seating situation and lack of a more celebratory birthday experience left something to be desired.
For Asians, this place is probably overrated. As for the food, I can’t objectively say whether it’s good or bad—perhaps this is just how Cuban cuisine tastes. To me, it was extremely salty. Also, the portion sizes were very small on every plate. It’s not the kind of “small” where a large plate has a tiny portion of meat with some garnish and sauce, trying to look high-end. The plates themselves were actually small, and the portions were just as minimal.
However, I can comment on the service—or rather, the lack thereof. The servers barely provided any service beyond bringing the dishes to the table; it was difficult to find them when needed. The environment was very noisy, with extremely loud music. The lighting was dim, and the walls had a chaotic mix of colors, making it hard to focus on eating. It was also difficult to have a proper conversation with the people around me.
It is very loud. Music isn’t the issue. I think it’s the acoustics. A lot of people taking and the sound adds up. I would recommend eating outside who h is nice or getting sensory head phones for kids or even adults I had to walk outside a few times to hear myself think lol it can be a bit much. But the food was great. The atmosphere can be great if you like that vibe. Reservations were easy to make and we were sat immediately.
