The faculty & student assistants make HCC Ybor City Campus an exceptional
experience. They gave much incentive to pursue a successful future on Enrollment Day and prioritized each student participant.

I am here to complete a couple of prerequisites for PA school. I was learning everything on my own on how to send in a school application. The website was a bit confusing so I stopped by and visited an advisor. I had a lot of questions yet he was SOOOO nice, quick, and efficient! Many times he would anticipate what I needed and this isn’t a trait you find in many collegiate school advisors nowadays. In fact, he made such a wonderful impression on me that it influenced me to go to the Ybor campus instead of the one closer to me. So, here’s what I’ve gathered so far…

It is an extremely cute little campus. I love the brick road that I get to walk on from the main building to the library. The courtyard and other landscaping makes the campus feel very homey and inviting. There are also herbal stations (?) where you can just trim herbs to take them home with you!

The school events here have been interesting. The people here are nice. To be honest the professor I have currently is much friendlier and more passionate than some of the other professors I have had at USF. There’s a wide range of students of different ages and educational levels. I made a couple of friends here and we have a little study group after class in the library.

The food at the cafe tastes good and is affordable… I think the Starbucks here is more expensive than outside sites. The hang out/study areas are cozy. There is a plethora of seating preferences (indoors and outdoors) . I personally like the inner library seats because they’re closer to the printers and computers. Sometimes I’ll hang out downstairs at the food cafe or the other cafe (in the library) if I’m feeling sociable.

All in all, I think it’s a wonderful, friendly, and safe place for students to study, work, and play. 🙂

OH, and because this HCC campus is in Ybor… Go and explore! There are so many neat restaurants and cafes (like The Blind Tiger Cafe which I left a review on, as well) within walking distance. Do it! Go and have fun with your classmates. Don’t let the Ybor gangs of roosters and chickens scare you off. Make the best of your experience and own it! 😀

This school system services has the worst student services I have encountered at any colleges I have attended. It is like going to the DMV and waiting for over an hour to talk to someone about a simple fix to a problem or question. HORRIBLE. the VA services are not readily available and helpful when needed. The phone is never answered and the representative is not knowledgeable enough to help Veterans students. This happens all through the school regardless if it is registration season or not. Someone needs to fix this problem if they want to pursue positive feedback and positive student upbringing.

I got my AA degree in 2000. I was on my way and didn’t know it. Awesome school of learning. Teachers care and the Ybor Campus doesn’t act like lil university. Classes are sensible and well taught.
