My wife have had a knee replacement and is doing well; her pain became an everyday pain thing in life until You came and made a turn around in her activities daily. I myself had been waiting for better days, and got that after getting my hip and knee injections visits with Dr Chan!
Two years ago, I went to Dr. Chen, believing I was going to receive a knee replacement. That hope turned into a nightmare. Not only did I not get the replacement, but my knee has been worse than ever. I’ve been living in constant discomfort and pain since then.
When I first met with Dr. Chen, he seemed confident, so I trusted him. Four weeks after our initial visit, I went back to tell him my pain had significantly worsened. Instead of discussing any long-term solutions, he offered me another shot. He told me to close my eyes, and I complied. But as I felt the needle go in, I also felt his fingers pressing hard on my kneecap. The pain was unbearable. I cried out, “Please, that hurts so much!” When I opened my eyes, I saw him laughing at me.
Stunned and confused, I asked, “What did you do to my knee?” Without a word, he walked out of the room and never came back. I waited, in excruciating pain, thinking he would return to explain. But he didn’t. I forced myself to get up and, barely able to walk, searched for him. When I asked the staff where Dr. Chen was, they coldly replied that he was with other patients. No one followed up with me—not him, not his staff. I left that office in more pain than I’d ever experienced in my life.
To this day, I’m living in agony, trapped in a cycle of relentless suffering. That experience with Dr. Chen haunts me. I
trusted him to help me, and instead, I was dismissed and left worse off than before.
Dr. Chan is a highly skilled surgeon and a delight to work with. Unlike many specialty practices where you often see a PA, I have seen Dr. Chan himself at every appointment. I am 9 1/2 weeks post total knee replacement and walked 1.5 miles yesterday with no pain. Can’t imagine a better experience!
I went to seek help for my increased pain in my right hip and right knee. My entire experience was extremely positive. I was welcomed and the check-in was very easy and quick. The technician who completed my x-rays was incredibly positive, explained each step and was kind and efficient. I then spent about 10 minutes with the PA who is working with Dr. Chan. She was thorough in her interview and exam, very respectful and kind, and clearly very knowledgeable about the kinds of things that can cause the pain I am experiencing. Dr. Chan then spoke with me about my limited options. He showed a genuine concern for my health and my ability to lead pain-free life. About 18 months ago, I had a very different experience with a doctor from another medical group, who was so rude, condescending and took less than five minutes to tell me that he would give me a shot. I left that medical group and joined BayCare who then referred me to Dr. Chan and his team. I am profoundly grateful and would recommend Dr. Chan and his team to anyone who needs help from an orthopedic specialist.
I am the son of Amanda Velez, and I want to highlight how much my mother is suffering. Her story from the review is not an exaggeration. She also has dementia, which makes it even more concerning that Dr. Chan would treat her this way. My mother is unable to walk, lives in constant pain, and feels lost and confused about how to proceed with her care. Her situation should have been handled with compassion and resolved under Dr. Chan’s guidance. Instead, she continues to struggle without the care she urgently needs.
