We were in town for a long weekend of sightseeing; one of the attractions that caught our attention was Lori Wilson Park, “a picturesque retreat with a beach.” Located along a busy stretch of N. Atlantic Ave., in Cocoa Beach, this park is an oasis once you arrive. The park features a clean public restroom, picnic tables, a dog park where many dog owners were gathered on a Saturday morning and lots of free parking.
The park features a “I Dream of Jeannie Way” street sign dating from the television sitcom starring Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman. The television series was set in and around Cocoa Beach. Ms. Eden visited Cocoa Beach in 1966 when the street sign was placed at Lori Wilson Park.
We live inland and were eager to see the beach but without the crazy numbers of people on the more well-known beaches such as Cocoa Beach, so walking down the boardwalk to the ocean was a delight. The ocean was angry that day, but that did not deter beach goers from enjoying the warm weather and beach activities. Lifeguard stations and rescue equipment are prominent along with flags indicating ocean conditions. On this day, the red flag was raised indicating rip tides. Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent.
Do not expect to see a lot of seashells, but we did see many tiny blue aquatic creatures that looked like jellyfish.
If you are seeking a quieter beach experience with no parking hassles or crowds, a nice dog park, and clean restrooms, Lori Wilson Park fits the bill.
I enjoyed the dog park there. Bella was happy as well. A mixture of grassy and some dirt exposed areas were noted. People were friendly. Water and doggy bags are available
Free parking and facilities right next to Cocoa Beach. This section of the beach has lifeguards on duty which is great for surfers and families with kids who regularly get into the water.
A great open to the public access to the ocean park. There’s a dog park and public restrooms too. There’s plenty of parking and it’s RV friendly. I believe it’s open from dusk until dawn. There is an area of beach with on duty life guards right there too.
Great beach with free parking! Not a huge parking lot but I’ve never had issues getting a spot.
Can’t beat a beach access point with free parking!
There’s a lifeguard post on the beach. Rentals for chairs etc.
There’s a restroom and wash off station by the beach bath.
For a popular beach area not the most crowded on the beach. Spread out easily enough.
